First residents at Keerdok already expected in summer 2025
Right in the heart of the new Keerdok neighborhood, on the new green Red Cross Square, construction work on DOK+ is progressing well. The construction works have reached their highest point. According to ancient tradition, the maypole was planted. This maypole symbolizes prosperity and happiness for the future residents. Those residents are already expected in the summer of 2025!
"The May tree planting marks another milestone in the development of the Keerdok site into a vibrant neighborhood. By the summer of 2025, the first residents will move into DOK+ and bring the neighborhood to life. The greening of the Red Cross Square, the new Keerdok Park and the proximity of the water, will help make the Keerdok neighborhood in the center of Mechelen a living environment where it is pleasant to live and stay."

DOK+ residential complex has 53 apartments and 6 ground-floor commercial spaces and will be equipped with the very latest in sustainable heating and cooling technology. Thus, in addition to the use of geothermal energy (heat is extracted from the ground), use is also made of riothermal energy. Heat is recovered from the underground sewage system! Unique in Flanders!
An impressive number of solar panels on the roof of the building provide the necessary energy to run the installation sustainably and inexpensively.
In addition, the building features a communal roof terrace with vegetable garden and a ground-level spacious bicycle storage area.

The modern architecture by Polo Architects, the prime location on the water in the heart of the new Keerdok neighborhood and the use of the most sustainable and innovative techniques for heating and cooling make DOK+ futureproof. Something that was also appreciated by the future residents of DOK+.
By providing apartments in the building with areas between 65 m² and 170 m² and offering a balanced variety of 1-, 2- or 3-bedrooms, DOK+ will also attract a very diverse public. DOK+ will be inhabited by young and old which only enhances the vibrancy of the neighborhood.
The neighboring Vander Valk hotel also believes in this new hot spot in downtown Mechelen. They will open a meeting place (healthy sandwich store or wine bar) on the ground floor space.
Between the Van der Valk hotel and DOK+ comes the new car-free and green Red Cross Square with some 40 climate robust trees and plenty of space to stroll and enjoy.
