Maypole Celebration Expansion Kasterlinden
Kasterlinden expansion reaches its highest point
The foundation stone was laid in May 2024, and work is already underway on the top floor of the new extension to the Kasterlinden school campus. The works on this new facility of the Flemish Community Commission for fifty additional pupils of special primary education, 10 additional places in the boarding school and thirty places of day care are progressing well. It is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025.

"It is an age-old tradition to plant the maypole when the building reaches its highest point. It is hoped that the building may become as stable, large and durable as a tree, symbolizing prosperity and fertility for its future users. Meanwhile, we give this our own interpretation: a number of motivated students from the Sint-Jozef school in Mechelen (the 'wood team') make an insect hotel on our behalf, which we donate to our client as a thank you for the trust. Furthermore, we also take this opportunity to thank the many construction workers for their daily dedication."
