Expressive parking tower with 'intelligent shell' and environmentally conscious standards

Eandistip is a parking tower built by BAM Interbuild on behalf of THV Keerdok Mechelen (Kairos - Montreal). The parking building includes 537 parking spaces and 110 bicycle racks. It will replace the existing car parks on the Rode Kruisplein and at the Carrefour site. In total, the building consists of 8 above-ground floors, two of which will be allocated as offices where VOKA have taken up residence. There is also a section on the ground floor used as retail, which currently houses a Louis Delhaize. The expressive structure will have a public green roof garden on the roof floor and, on a lower level, an event plaza with a view of the historic city center.

The building was designed as an "intelligent shell," making it flexible, polyvalent and adaptable. The intelligent shell allows the building floors to be given a different function over time. The challenge for BAM Interbuild lay in the fact that the building's facades consist entirely of a cross structure. These were produced from architectural concrete. The crosses not only have an architectural function, but also function as the supporting structure. In this way, the parking decks are free of columns.

The construction of the parking tower was also adapted to more environmentally conscious standards. Using the TOTEM sustainability meter, certain materials were replaced with more environmentally conscious materials.

The project is located in Mechelen between the N16 and the Dijle and is part of a larger development of the Red Cross Square in Mechelen. The project is an indispensable link in further promoting sustainable mobility and infrastructure within a livable city of Mechelen.
