Museum aan de Stroom stacks the past as it were

The Museum aan de Stroom is a giant stack house, consisting of an accumulation of enormous natural stone suitcases, in which the story of the city, its inhabitants, the stream and the port is stored and displayed. The concept of a stacking house refers to the packing or stacking houses of the Antwerp of old. The MAS stacks the past, as it were.

On their way up and guided by large escalators, visitors get new and impressive views of the city, the river and the docks through the large windows each time. In this way, they receive, as it were, a vertical city tour that is part of the museum. The roof and the panorama room offer a fantastic view of Antwerp and its surroundings. On the ground floor is a museum shop and café.

Objects as well as a giant mosaic by Luc Tuymans adorn the museum square, and the pavilions and terraces in between create a cozy atmosphere.
